Akpala Possibly Out For Six Weeks
Published: March 05, 2013Following an injury to his left knee, Werder Bremen attacker Joseph Akpala will spend at least six weeks on the sidelines.
On Sunday, Akpala came off worse in a training ground collision with goalkeeper Raphael Wolf. The next day, tests conducted revealed that the Nigeria international has damaged the internal ligament in his left knee.
''We must wait for the next few days in order to establish a specific forecast, how long can he be out.
''Right now it looks like he will be out at least six weeks,'' club doctor Gotz Dimanskiwas quoted as saying by the online edition of Kicker.
26 - year - old Akpala has participated in 18 Bundesliga matches, scoring once against Freiburg last September.
