Coach Keshi Names Obafemi Martins In Starting Eleven
Published: March 23, 2013
Nigeria gaffer Stephen Keshi has unveiled his starting eleven for the World Cup qualifier against the Harambee Stars at the U. J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar on Saturday afternoon.
As expected Maccabi Tel Aviv custodian and skipper of the squad Vincent Enyeama is preferred in goal ahead of Austin Ejide.
Sunshine Stars Solomon Kwambe will man the right full back in the absence of Efe Ambrose, who is suspended for the tie. Uwa Echiejile starts at left full back. The centre backs to provide cover for Enyeama are Godfrey Oboabona and Kenneth Omeruo.
Despite not playing an official game for the past six weeks, coach Stephen Keshi has kept faith with Sunday Mba, one of the revelations of the last African Cup of Nations in South Africa. Chelsea star Obi Mikel and Lazio's Eddy Onazi will complement Mba in midfield.
In the attack, there is no place for in-form CSKA Moscow striker Ahmed Musa. Victor Moses, Brown Ideye and Obafemi Martins will lead the charge for goals.
