With the summer transfer window set to close in just three days, Valencia CF are intensifying efforts to secure the signing of Umar Sadiq from Real Sociedad, according to a report by SPORT.
Reports from journalist Héctor Gómez, confirmed by SUPER, indicate that negotiations between the two clubs were renewed on Saturday morning, with discussions centered on a potential loan deal that could finally resolve the striker’s future.
The 28-year-old Nigerian forward is eager to make the switch to Mestalla and has reportedly agreed to reduce his salary to facilitate the move.
Valencia remain confident an agreement can be reached before Monday night’s deadline, despite a summer-long tug-of-war over his services.
Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has consistently pushed for a permanent transfer, but Valencia’s improved loan offer — exceeding €1 million including bonuses — has softened the Basque club’s stance.
Sociedad are now considering performance-related clauses to further increase the package.
For Valencia, Sadiq represents a key target in attack. The striker enjoyed standout moments last season, including a spectacular backheel goal against Osasuna in March, and is viewed by Carlos Corberán as an ideal addition to bolster the squad’s firepower.
On the international front, Sadiq’s situation has also drawn attention.
Despite being named in Nigeria’s 31-man provisional squad for next month’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, he was omitted from the final 23-man list announced by head coach Eric Chelle.
His exclusion emphasizes the intense competition for places in the Super Eagles’ attack.
As the transfer deadline looms, Valencia and Real Sociedad are working against the clock to strike a “final agreement†that could see Umar Sadiq don the black and white of Mestalla this season.
