Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has provided a positive update on his squad ahead of their UEFA Champions League encounter against Atlético Madrid, confirming that Victor Osimhen is focused and ready for action following the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Osimhen returned to Galatasaray training on Monday evening after playing a key role in Nigeria's bronze-medal finish at the biennial tournament on Saturday.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Buruk revealed that the Nigerian striker has shown strong determination and concentration since rejoining the squad.
"Osimhen joined the squad yesterday and trained with us. He clearly showed his desire and concentration," he said.
The Galatasaray boss also disclosed that Ismail Jakobs is expected to arrive in Istanbul early on matchday and will be available for selection.
"Ismail Jakobs will be in Istanbul early tomorrow morning and will be in the squad" he revealed.
Buruk added that midfielder Sara will train with the team and undergo a late fitness test, with the coaching staff planning to include him in the matchday squad if he comes through the session without any issues.
"Sara will train with the team today and test herself; our plan is to include him in the squad," Buruk explained.
However, the coach confirmed that Singo will miss the match, while Arda is also sidelined due to injury.
"Singo will not be with us for this match. Arda also has an injury. However, expanding our squad is a great morale boost for all of us, including myself," he added.
Before departing for AFCON, Osimhen was in sensational form for the Turkish champions in the Champions League, scoring six goals in four games for the Yellow-Reds.
Buruk will be hoping the Nigerian international can seamlessly continue that fine run as Galatasaray push for progression to the next stage of the Champions League.
