Former England midfielder Steven Gerrard has revealed his disappointment with the decision of Liverpool not to sign Anglo - Nigerian Dele Alli as his replacement prior to his move to Tottenham Hotspur.<br /><br />The 19 - year - old Alli has blossomed for the White Hart Lane outfit in the Premier League so much so that he has been promoted to the senior England squad and has appeared 4 times for the Three Lions since his debut against Estonia.<br /><br />&ldquo;He looks ahead of me as far as England games and appearances are concerned, &rdquo; Gerrard said to <i>London Evening Standard</i>. <br /><br />&ldquo;I was actually disappointed Liverpool didn&rsquo;t sign him. I thought he was certainly a player Liverpool might&rsquo;ve tried to go for, especially with me coming to the end.<br /><br />&ldquo;He&rsquo;s certainly a player that could play for Liverpool for 15 years, he&rsquo;s got that ability.&rdquo;<br /><br />Alli has returned to London after helping Tottenham Hotspur qualify for the last 32 of the Europa League on Thursday night.<br /><br />Photo Credit : Twitter.com <br /><span class="null"></span>
