Italian-based midfielders Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro have arrived in Cairo ahead of Nigeria’s pre-Africa Cup of Nations friendly against Egypt’s Pharaohs.
Their arrival brings the number of players in Super Eagles camp to four as of 7:56 pm on Sunday, with goalkeepers Francis Uzoho and Stanley Nwabali among the early arrivals.
Manchester City academy graduate Dele-Bashiru returns to the national team after missing Nigeria’s last four World Cup qualifying matches due to fitness concerns.
Akinsanmiro has earned his first senior call-up following his recovery from a shoulder injury and a run of impressive performances for Pisa in Serie A.
Several players are expected to join the camp later tonight, including Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman, Hull City defender Semi Ajayi, Birmingham City fullback Bright Osayi-Samuel, Slavia Prague centre-back Igoh Ogbu, Zulte Waregem midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi and Singida Blackstars goalkeeper Amas Obasogie.
The Super Eagles will face the Pharaohs of Egypt in a friendly match at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday, December 16, before travelling by chartered flight to Fès two days later.
Manager Eric Chelle views the friendly as an important rehearsal ahead of Nigeria's blockbuster Group C encounter against North African opponent Tunisia on December 27.
