Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has spoken about the atmosphere around the Nigeria national team as the Super Eagles prepare to begin their build-up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The former Arsenal midfielder shared his thoughts while appearing on Episode 1 of the Diaspora Talks Podcast titled “WE PLAY DIFFERENT.”
Iwobi’s comments come ahead of the opening of the Super Eagles camp, which is scheduled to begin on Monday. During the podcast, the midfielder offered insight into the lighter moments within the squad, particularly when asked about who controls the music in the Nigeria dressing room.
When asked who serves as the team’s change-room DJ, Iwobi explained that the role is not fixed.
“It changes. It actually changes,” he said. “One day it could be Samuel Chukwueze. The next day we miss Kelechi Iheanacho. It used to be him, but I think it’s Chukwueze that’s the main DJ right now.”
Kelechi Iheanacho, who was previously known for handling the music in the Super Eagles dressing room, recently returned from injury.
The forward was named in head coach Eric Chelle’s 54-man provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. However, he did not make the final 28-man list selected for the tournament.
Nigeria, three-time Africa Cup of Nations champions, will be aiming to secure a fourth continental title.
The Super Eagles have been drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Nigeria’s campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will begin on Tuesday, December 23, with preparations set to officially get underway when the team’s camp opens on Monday.
