Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella is expected to be included in Bayer Leverkusen’s matchday squad for their highly anticipated Bundesliga clash against Bayern Munich after recovering from a foot injury that kept him sidelined for several weeks.
The Nigerian attacker has been out of action since the start of the year after sustaining the injury during Leverkusen’s narrow 1–0 victory over TSG Hoffenheim.
The setback ruled him out of a number of important fixtures during a critical period of the season.
During his absence, Tella missed eight league matches against Werder Bremen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC St. Pauli, Union Berlin, Mainz 05, Hamburger SV and SC Freiburg.
Tella has now stepped up his recovery and returned to full training this week, rejoining his teammates as Leverkusen intensify preparations for the crucial encounter against Bayern Munich.
His return could provide a timely boost for Leverkusen head coach Kasper Hjulmand, who will be hoping to have more attacking options available as the team battles to strengthen their position in the league standings and enhance their chances of securing qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Tella was included in Nigeria's provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations but did not make the final selection.
