UCL: Liverpool boss takes two teenagers of Nigerian descent to Milan but omits Salah

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has taken a 19-man squad to Milan ahead of the Reds' UEFA Champions League clash with Serie A side Inter, with two teenagers of Nigerian descent included in the travelling party.

Defender Wellity Lucky, 19, and forward Rio Ngumoha, 17, are set to be named in Liverpool's matchday squad to face Inter Milan, having travelled with the first team on Monday afternoon.

Both Lucky and Ngumoha trained with the senior squad at the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby before the trip to Italy.

While Ngumoha has been involved in 22 official matchday squads this season, appearing in eight games—including making his Champions League debut—Lucky made his senior debut in a Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace in October.

Eligible to represent Nigeria, England, or Spain, Zaragoza-born Lucky committed his future to Liverpool by signing a new contract in July 2025.

In other team news, Liverpool's squad to face Inter Milan sees the notable absence of Mohamed Salah.

The forward, the first Egyptian player to score in four consecutive Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, has been left out amid a strained relationship with Slot.

Salah was not included in Liverpool’s starting lineup for their last three Premier League matches.
