The Blues have confirmed that their number 9 suffered a dislocated shoulder during the second half of the matchday three 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against the Leone Stars, meaning the Super Eagles medics gave an accurate diagnosis of the injury.
Nigeria's leading scorer in the qualifiers had to make way for Racing
Genk's Paul Onuachu with 78 minutes played and
was visibly in pains as he was taken off the pitch.
Though manager Gernot Rohr thinks Osimhen faces at least two weeks on the sidelines, Napoli have not offered a time frame on his expected return date.
"Victor Osimhen underwent tests in Rome on Wednesday which confirmed that he has suffered a dislocated shoulder," Napoli said in a statement.
"The player has already begun physiotherapy on the injury and will be reassessed on a daily basis."
Osimhen is rated as a huge doubt for Napoli's Serie A clash with AC Milan on Sunday plus the Europa League meeting against Rijeka a week on Thursday.
