Workload management: Afcon hopeful Boniface skips full Werder Bremen training

Werder Bremen striker Victor Boniface was absent from Wednesday’s training session as he managed his workload ahead of the upcoming Bundesliga clash against VfB Stuttgart, according to a report by Deichstube.

Since joining Werder Bremen last summer, Boniface has yet to register a goal this season.

The club continues to manage his training carefully to ensure he recovers full sharpness and readiness for competitive matches.

Werder Bremen head coach Horst Steffen and his staff conducted full training sessions with the rest of the squad, focusing on tactical preparations and team cohesion ahead of Sunday’s home fixture.

The coaching staff will assess Boniface’s readiness in the coming days to determine if he can participate in the match against Stuttgart.

Other squad members trained fully, while Boniface worked individually, following a carefully managed program designed to balance workload and recovery.

The club has not provided a specific timeline for his return to full sessions, emphasizing a measured approach to avoid setbacks.

Despite his dip in form, Boniface, who last featured for the Super Eagles in June during an international friendly against Russia, has been included in coach Eric Chelle’s 54-man provisional roster for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

His current fitness and lack of competitive minutes, however, could influence his participation in the tournament.
