Rohr's Tactical Approach
Contrary to what many Super Eagles supporters expected on Saturday, Gernot Rohr deployed a 4-3-3 formation which is very unusual.
The German tactician tested the 3-5-2 formation in training games but it was surprising to see him come up with a different and unexpected formation.
To further surprise many Nigerians, the former Bordeaux boss excluded Leon Balogun and fully-fit Odion Ighalo from his starting XI despite the latter's awesome goalscoring form.
Judging by the starting lineup, one can easily assume that Rohr's plan was to utilize Paul Onuachu's height to trouble the Swallows' goal, while Mikel Obi uses his creative prowess to provide many goalscoring opportunities in the opening stage of the encounter.
Samuel Chukwueze's Effect
The 20-year-old winger showed the fans one of the reasons why Paul Aigbogun and Rohr had to go against each other for his service.
The Villarreal youngster was arguably the most active player in the opening half of the encounter as his dribbles unsettled the Swallows.
He had a positive effect on the Super Eagles attack from the left flank but he still need to work on his end product as the competition progresses.
What Must be Done By Rohr Vs Guinea
It is glaring that Ighalo is Nigeria's hitman at the moment, hence, Rohr can't afford to leave him on the bench against the Guineans because a quick goal will be needed to unsettle the opponent's defence.
