Chelsea legend Michael Essien has explained why Victor Moses and two members of the Blues first team could be leaving Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.
Apart from the former Nigeria international, the future of Danny Drinkwater and Andreas Christensen has been the subject of speculation due to lack of playing opportunities since the appointment of Maurizio Sarri.
The right winger is thought to be on the radar of Crystal Palace, West Ham and Wolves among others, Drinkwater is wanted by Fulham and the Danish defender is being monitored by Barcelona.
''Every player wants to play. Chelsea isn’t an easy place to come and the competition is very fierce,'' Essien said to Express.
''At the end of the day, all the players work but it’s the manager who will pick who he wants to play.
''When you’re not playing you get frustrated and you want to look elsewhere.
''It’s up to them really but they have to keep working and then everyone gets their chance.''
Moses has not been named in Chelsea's match day squad since September 29 when he played the last 17 minutes against Liverpool.
Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche faced the media on Thursday, two days before his side's Premier League trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, and provided a fitness update on his squad.
