World Exclusive : Napoli Miss Out On Emenike After He Was Rejected By AS Roma
Published: August 13, 2015
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Italian Serie A side Napoli missed out on signing Emmanuel Emenike from Fenerbahce in the summer transfer market before he agreed terms with Al Ain.
Emenike was first offered to AS Roma by his intermediaries but they did not get positive feedback from Walter Sabatini, the sporting director of the capital outfit, who said that the Nigeria international was the third choice in their search for a striker.
Sabatini eventually got his preferred choice, Edin Džeko from Manchester City, while Luiz Adriano(now with AC Milan) was the alternative if he had failed to strike terms with the English Premier League club.
Two days after Emmanuel Emenike agreed to move to Al Ain, Napoli re-opened talks with his representatives as regards to the possibility of switching to the Stadio San Paolo and they were not pleased to find out he was heading to the United Arab Emirates instead.
In the winter transfer market, the 2013 African Cup of Nations top scorer was offered to AC Milan, Fiorentina and Inter Milan but nothing came out of it.
