Exclusive: Arsenal Offered Chukwueze Five-Year Deal After Medical And Academy 2.5 Million Pounds
Published: June 07, 2016It is all but confirmed that Nigeria U20 international Samuel Chukwueze is set to miss out on a dream move to English Premier League club Arsenal.
The Diamond Academy winger had been offered a five-year deal by the Gunners, subject to when he attains the age of majority in May 2017, following a successful medical he underwent with the club in London at the start of this year.
But the proposed move collapsed after Arsenal and Diamond Academy could not agree on the payment terms, with Arsenal chiefs insisting that a huge percentage of the transfer fee will be paid next summer.
“Arsenal wanted Chukwueze, even till tomorrow. The problem is that they could not agree with Diamond Academy,” a top source involved in negotiations told allinigeriasoccer.com.
“Samuel has done his medical with Arsenal and he passed it. They wanted to give him a five-year deal, the academy is taking their time to study other offers.”
Arsenal would have paid Diamond Academy 2.5 million pounds for the services of Samuel Chukwueze, including performance-related add-ons.
The Gunners had agreed a £1.5 million transfer fee and the Nigerian club would have been paid £500,000 when he breaks into the first team plus an extra £500,000 when he makes his first appearance for the Super Eagles.
