Manchester City Striker Of Nigerian Descent Attracting Interest From Fenerbahce
Published: July 23, 2018Manchester City striker of Nigerian descent Lukas Nmecha, 19, is attracting interest from Super Lig club Fenerbahçe, according to reports in the Turkish press, including 90min.com
Manager of the Yellow Canaries, Phillip Cocu, and Pep Guardiola were once teammates at Barcelona and he believes the Spaniard would not turn his back on him in his bid to sign the England U21 star on a season-long loan.
Nmecha is presently with the City squad in the United States, where they are holding a training camp in preparation for the forthcoming season, and started against Borussia Dortmund in a friendly on Saturday.
Guardiola is mulling over the request from his old friend and will make a final decision on the future of Nmecha when the team returns to the United Kingdom.
Nmecha showed promise last season, making three appearances for the first team and scoring an impressive 20 goals in 16 matches for the youth teams.
The Hamburg-born center forward penned a new deal with City in January 2018 and is now contracted to the Premier League champions until the end of the 2020-2021 season.
