Arsenal's Nigerian Winger Tipped To Be The Next Iwobi Suffers Long-Term Injury
Published: September 18, 2018Nigerian winger Xavier Amaechi has suffered a long-term injury which is expected to sideline him for several weeks.
Arsenal Youth Team expert Jeorge Bird writes on his blog that Amaechi is not expected to play again this calendar year after suffering a foot injury.
The Hale End Academy product was conspicuously missing from the England U18 squad for the Limoges Tournament in France earlier this month and it has now come to light that he sustained the foot injury while training with the Young Lions.
Amaechi's injury is a big blow to the club and player as he has been tipped to make his debut in the Cup competitions this season.
He signed his first professional contract with the Gunners in January 2018, same month he celebrated his seventeenth birthday.
Amaechi joined Arsenal in 2013 and rose through the ranks before he was fully promoted to the U23 side in 2018.
