No One Is Missing : Ighalo, Ekong Finally Join Super Eagles In Asaba
Published: June 06, 2019For the first time since the start of the Super Eagles training camp in Asaba, manager Gernot Rohr will work with 25 players named to the provisional squad list on Thursday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Shanghai Greenland Shenhua striker Odion Ighalo and Udinese central defender William Troost-Ekong finally reported for international duty today.
The Nigeria Football Federation have confirmed that the two players will take part in the workout scheduled to begin at 1615 hours at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
While Troost-Ekong had muscular problems towards the end of the 2018-2019 season, Ighalo just recovered from a hamstring problem which kept him on the sidelines for about three weeks.
The Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers top scorer has not played competitively for his Chinese club since May 10 as manager Quique Sánchez Flores refused to risk him against Chongqing Dangdai Lifan (June 1), four days after the striker resumed full training.
Katsina United's Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Brighton's Leon Balogun are injury worries for the friendly vs Zimbabwe, having missed full training on Wednesday.
