RB Leipzig target move for Balogun as replacement for Chelsea-bound attacker
Published: April 12, 2023As first reported by allnigeriasoccer.com exactly four weeks ago, German Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are among the clubs interested in Arsenal-owned striker Folarin Balogun in the summer transfer window.
Balogun joined Stade de Reims last summer without an option to buy included in the deal taking him to the French Ligue 1 side.
The Hale End Academy graduate has adapted to the Ligue 1 like a duck to water with 18 goals to his name, a tally bettered only by Paris Saint Germain's Kylian Mbappe and Lille's Jonathan David.
According to Sky Deutschland, Balogun is on the shortlist of RB Leipzig in order to replace Christopher Nkunku who has agreed a move to Chelsea at the end of the season.
Jonathan David is being targeted by RB Leipzig and if that option fails, Balogun is a cheaper alternative to the Canada international,
Many clubs in the top five European Leagues are interested in the England U21 international of Nigerian descent.
Balogun has made it clear that he will consider leaving Arsenal in the summer if he's not assured of first-team opportunities, and his status at the Emirates Stadium is unlikely to change with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah ahead of him in manager Mikel Arteta's pecking order of strikers.
Per the report, Arsenal will demand at least 40 million euros from clubs interested in signing Balogun, who has approximately two years left on his contract.
