Another clean sheet for on-loan Gunner Okonkwo as Sturm Graz beat Austria Klagenfurt
Published: April 16, 2023Arsenal loanee Arthur Okonkwo continues to show his quality at Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz.
The Hale End Academy graduate kept yet another clean sheet as Sturm Graz registered a 2-0 road win over SK Austria Klagenfurt in a Bundesliga match at 28 Black Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Tomi Horvat opened the scoring for Sturm Graz in the 63rd minute and Jusuf Gazibegovic added a second in the third minute of stoppage time.
Okonkwo has now kept five clean sheets in eleven official matches while conceding eight goals since joining Sturm Graz on loan in the winter transfer market.
The Super Eagles-eligible goalkeeper didn't concede against Rapid Vienna, Austria Lustenau, WSG Tirol and LASK prior to the trip to Austria Klagenfurt.
Okonkwo didn't pick the ball from his net in ten games during his loan spell at League Two club Crewe Alexandra in the first half of the season.
The former England youth international wasn't kept very busy against Austria Klagenfurt but his big moment came two minutes from time when he made a crucial save to deny Rico Benatelli from grabbing an equalizer.
Okonkwo and his Sturm Graz teammates have two home games in the league against Salzburg and Austria Vienna before the Cup final against Rapid Vienna on April 30.
