AC Milan eyeing loan deal with option to buy for talented Chelsea midfielder of Nigerian descent
Published: June 11, 2023Italian giants AC Milan are reportedly keeping tabs on Chelsea midfielder of Nigerian descent, Carney Chukwuemeka.
According to Italian transfer market guru, Gianluca Di Marzio, the England U20 international could be joining AC Milan on loan with an option to buy inserted into the agreement.
The Rossoneri need an addition in the midfield following the return of Brahim Diaz to Real Madrid and that could explain their interest in the young midfielder.
Chukwuemeka moved from Aston Villa to Chelsea in the summer of 2022 in a £20 million deal, signing a deal until the end of the 2027-2028 season.
However, the 19-year-old struggled for game time in his first season at Stamford Bridge having started just two games in all competitions.
At the end of the season, he was able to manage 15 appearances for the Blues without registering any goal involvement.
With the London-based side not playing in Europe next season, the club have taken a financial hit and will like to move some players on either temporarily or permanently.
Chukwuemeka is held highly by the Chelsea hierarchy which makes an outright sale to AC Milan and other suitors unlikely.
