2023 Flying Eagles invitee Ejeheri keeps twentieth clean sheet since August
Published: June 11, 2023Arsenal-owned goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri kept his twentieth clean sheet since August 2022 as SJK Seinäjoki secured a 2-0 road win over IFK Mariehamn in a Finnish Veikkausliiga clash at the Wiklöf Holding Arena on Sunday evening.
Ejeheri was officially called up to train with the Flying Eagles in January, before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, but couldn't attend the training camp in Abuja due to club commitments.
Since then, his career has been on the rise with a string of fine performances for SJK Seinäjoki in the Finnish top-flight.
Having registered twelve clean sheets from 25 appearances in all competitions during his loan spell at National League South club Chelmsford City FC in the first half of the 2022-2023 season, he has added eight to that tally in Finland.
Against IFK Marieham, Jaime Moreno opened the scoring in the 27th minute and Nigerian center forward Samson Ebuka Obioha doubled the advantage at minute 84.
The highlight of Ejeheri's performance was in the 80th minute when he prevented IFK Mariehamn from grabbing an equalizer by managing to tip a shot from Samuel Anini over the bar.
SJK are the only unbeaten team in the Veikkausliiga after eleven matches largely due to the heroics of the Hale End Academy product.
