Official: Romanian club CFR Cluj snap up Philip Otele
Published: June 19, 2023With a statement on their official website, Romanian Liga 1 club CFR Cluj announced the signing of Nigerian striker Philip Otele on Friday, June 16.
The length and financial terms of the contract have not been disclosed by the eight-time Romanian champions.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Otele has put pen to paper on a two-year contract, with option for an additional twelve months.
Otele will complete his transfer to CFR Cluj on July 1, 2023, after the expiration of his contract at UTA Arad, where he spent the last eighteen months of his career.
Overall, he netted eleven goals and registered three assists in 58 appearances across all competitions for UTA Arad.
Before Otele's move to Romania in January 2022, he wore the colours of Lithuanian outfit Kauno Zalgiris, for whom he scored thirteen goals in seventy matches.
The 24-year-old has also played for Teesside University and non-league English club Wolviston FC.
CFR Cluj will be featuring in the second qualifying round of next season's UEFA Europa Conference League by virtue of finishing third in the Romanian top-flight last term.
