Confirmed: Teenage Nigerian striker joins Derby County after release by Tottenham Hotspur
Published: July 13, 2023Through their official website, Derby County have announced their new intake of academy scholars for the 2023-2024 season.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported 76 days ago that Derby County were interested in signing teenage Nigerian striker Justin Oguntolu for their academy team ahead of next season.
The Rams have confirmed as much, stating that Oguntolu has joined the club as a first year scholar.
The former Arsenal youth teamer has joined Derby County as a free agent after he was released by Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the 2022-2023 campaign following the expiry of his contract.
Oguntolu has signed a two-year scholarship that will keep him at Derby County until at least June 30, 2025 following a successful trial that saw him score two goals in five appearances in the U18 Premier League whilst still a schoolboy.
He has been training with Derby County's U18 team since they started their pre-season preparations.
Oguntolu is a striker who is comfortable anywhere across a front three and likes to drop in, link up play, get in behind and score goals.
Derby County's other first year scholars are: Demiane Agustien, Cruz Allen, Luke Banks, Owen Eames, Tristan Gill, Isaac Gordon, Niall McAndrew, Adisa Osayande, Johnson Osong, Harley Price, Jack Thompson, Marsel Tola.
