Published: July 26, 2023Two Flying Eagles eligible players, Shola Shoretire and Maxi Oyedele were in action when Manchester United lost 3-1 to League Two side Wrexham in a pre-season game in the early hours of Wednesday.
Elliot Lee gave Wrexham the lead in the 29th minute and Aaron Hayden doubled the advantage nine minutes before the end of the first half.
Marc Jurado halved the deficit for Manchester United just before the interval
The young-looking Red Devils hope of staging a comeback was dented when they were reduced to 10 men when Dan Gore got his marching orders just two minutes after the restart.
Sam Dalby sealed Wrexham's win with a third goal in the 70th minute.
Shoretire was named in the starting XI that consisted mainly of players from Manchester United's development side and was replaced by Mateo Mejia in the 68th minute.
The 19-year-old has two appearances for the Red Devils in their pre-season games having previously appeared in the win against Leeds United.
Oyedele on the other hand got his first pre-season minutes in the game as he came on for Isak Hansen-Aaroen just before the hour mark.
