Watford reveal squad numbers for 2019 Fifa U20 WC star and Super Eagles winger
Published: August 03, 2023Through their official website, Watford have confirmed their squad numbers ahead of the start of the 2023-2024 Championship season.
If named in the starting lineup in the Hornets clash against Queens Park Rangers at The Vic on Saturday, August 5, Nigeria's 2019 Fifa U20 World Cup star Tom Dele-Bashiru will be wearing the number 24 kit.
Out of favour Super Eagles winger Samuel Kalu has been allocated the number 28.
Tom Dele-Bashiru and Kalu have picked up the same shirt numbers they have been wearing since their arrival at Watford from Manchester City and Bordeaux respectively.
The two players had fitness issues for most part of the 2022-2023 campaign,with the defensive midfielder making six appearances in the Championship and the winger playing in nine games.
A third player of Nigerian descent in Tobi Adeyemo has retained the number 54 he wore at the back of his jersey when he made his senior debut for Watford against Reading in the Emirates FA Cup on January 7, 2023.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has not been allocated a jersey number yet amid speculation surrounding his future.
