Done deal: Ex-Chelsea youth teamer Makanjuola joins Scunthorpe United on dual registration
Published: August 09, 20232013 Fifa U17 World Cup-winning midfielder with the Golden Eaglets Habib Makanjuola has joined Scunthorpe United
Through their official website, English National League side Scunthorpe United have announced the signing of Makanjuola on dual registration terms with Ilkeston Town.
Makanjuola was with Chelsea at U16 level and Birmingham City at U17 level, before inking a four-year deal with Leicester City in 2017.
Dual registration allows a player to be registered for another club if the original club agrees, and play competitive games for the new club without leaving the original club.
The nature of the Nigerian midfielder's dual registration sees Scunthorpe United as his parent club who will also allow him to feature for Ilkeston Town in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
Having impressed Scunthorpe United manager Jimmy Dean and his staff during his trial period, the fifth tier side have decided to sign him.
The 24-year-old started his football career with Niger United Football Academy before moving to Water Football Academy where he was invited to the Nigeria Under-13 team.
He would go on to feature for the Manu Garba-led Golden Eaglets side that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2013 alongside Kelechi Iheanacho.
