Tottenham Hotspur handed a boost in the race for Nigerian central defender
Published: August 24, 2023Tottenham Hotspur have received a boost in their pursuit of English-born Nigerian central defender Tosin Adarabioyo who is also highly wanted by Monaco.
According to Express UK, Spurs now stand a good chance to sign the Fulham star whose proposed transfer to Monaco is on the verge of collapse.
A report from Footmercato suggests that the 8-time French champions are now looking elsewhere to sign a centre-back due to the complexity of signing Tosin.
They have identified Ousmane Diomandé and Filipe Relvas as alternatives to the Anglo-Nigerian centreback.
This presents a good opportunity for Tottenham whose manager Ange Postecoglou is said to be a big fan of Adarabioyo and wants to bring him over to north London.
While it is unlikely that the former England youth International will move to Monaco, Spurs will still have to convince him to join the club.
They have added Micky van de Ven to their defensive options this summer but still intend to sign one more centre-back before the end of the transfer window and will be hoping that the defensive signing is Adarabioyo.
