Southampton loanee Onuachu scores 29 minutes into his Trabzonspor debut but subbed out due to injury
Published: September 17, 2023Southampton loanee Paul Onuachu scored his first goal for Trabzonspor just 29 minutes into his debut in the Turkish side's 3-0 win over Beşiktaş in a Süper Lig encounter on Sunday evening.
It was the Super Eagles striker who opened the scoring for his new club when he put himself in a good position to nod Enis Bardhi's cross into the back of the net.
A goal apiece from Anastasios Bakasetas and Edin Višća in the 41st and 61st minute respectively will seal the victory for the 7-time Süper Lig champions.
Onuachu's goal tonight for Trabzonspor is his first league goal since January when he netted a brace for Genk in their 4-0 win over RFC Seraing in the Jupiler Pro League.
The 29-year-old came off two minutes after the start of the second half after suffering an injury and was replaced by Enis Destan.
Onuachu joined Trabzonspor from Southampton on a loan deal before the closure of the Turkish transfer window.
Having failed to hit the ground running in England, the former Jupiler Pro League top scorer will be hoping to have a successful spell in Turkey and get his career back on track.
