'He'll be an added value for our national team' - Peseiro speaks on Chukwueze's move to AC Milan
Published: September 21, 2023Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro has underlined that Samuel Chukwueze's transfer to Italian powerhouse AC Milan will be beneficial to the Super Eagles.
Chukwueze ended a six-year association with Villarreal in July by putting pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Rossoneri.
With all due respect to Villarreal, the Diamond Academy product is now rubbing shoulders with top players such as Ismaël Bennacer, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Olivier Giroud, Rafael Leão, Christian Pulisic, Théo Hernandez and Fikayo Tomori at AC Milan.
Peseiro is delighted to see Chukwueze join fellow Nigeria internationals Maduka Okoye and Isaac Success (Udinese), Tyronne Ebuehi (Empoli), Ademola Lookman (Atalanta), Victor Osimhen (Napoli) and Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo (Salernitana) in the Serie A.
The Portuguese tactician gave minutes to four players based in the Serie A in Nigeria's last international against São Tomé and Príncipe and the players accounted for five of the six goals netted by the Super Eagles.
"My goal is to try to win, we have an excellent team, but in a short championship we know that anything can happen. It will not be easy," Peseiro said to Il Mattino via Milan News.
"In Serie A there are many talented Nigerian players. Now Chukwueze has also arrived and he will continue to grow at Milan and will be an added value for our national team too."
After four appearances off the bench in the Italian top flight, Chukwueze made his starting debut for AC Milan in their goalless draw with Newcastle United on Tuesday.
