Snapped: Two Super Eagles-eligible youngsters train fully with Chelsea a day after loss to Aston Villa
Published: September 25, 2023A day after a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League, Chelsea have started preparations for their next game, a League Cup clash with Brighton and Hove Albion, which they play on Wednesday, September 27 at Stamford Bridge.
According to Chelsea's official website, the players who started against the Lions trained at lower intensity, while it was business as usual for those that were substitutes and didn't play.
Lesley Ugochukwu was among the two Super Eagles-eligible youngsters who trained fully having come off the bench midway through the second half against Aston Villa.
With a man down following the dismissal of Malo Gusto, manager Mauricio Pochettino brought Ugochukwu on to shore up the middle of the park - his fifth appearance in Chelsea colours since his summer move from Rennes.
The France U21 international was pictured alongside England youth teamer Noni Madueke who was left out of the matchday squad on Sunday as the game with Aston Villa came too soon for him after recovering from injury.
Madueke and Ugochukwu smiled for the cameras during a dehydration break on a sunny day at the Cobham Training Center.
Against AFC Wimbledon in the second round of the Carabao Cup, Madueke was on target in a come-from-behind 2-1 win, while Ugochukwu completed his first 90 minutes as a Chelsea player.
In their last five matches in all competitions, Chelsea have won two and lost three.
