Trabzonspor interested in re-signing former Super Eagles invitee in January transfer window
Published: October 22, 2023Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor are reportedly interested in signing 2017 Super Eagles invitee Anthony Nwakaeme in the January transfer window.
According to Karadeniz'de Sonnokta Gazetesi, Trabzonspor will take action for the transfer of Anthony Nwakeme during the winter transfer market, and the newspaper claims that the experienced Nigerian winger is interested in returning for a second spell at the Claret-Blue.
President Ertuğrul Doğan and coach Abdullah Avcı have an excellent relationship with Nwakaeme and are still in touch with the Nigerian even after his departure from the club in the summer of 2022.
In a four-year association with Trabzonspor before his move to Saudi Arabia, Nwakaeme registered 47 goals and 40 assists in 145 appearances across all competitions.
As a Trabzonspor player, the 34-year-old won the Turkish Super Lig, Turkish Cup and Turkish Super Cup.
His future has become a subject of speculation with approximately eight months left on his contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Fayha FC, for whom he has scored 10 goals in 36 games.
Nwakaeme lists Hapoel Beer Sheva, Hapoel Raanana, Arieșul Turda, FC Universitatea Cluj and Petrolul Ploiesti among his previous clubs.
