Raheem Sterling beats George, four others to win Chelsea Goal of the Month for November
Published: December 03, 2023Raheem Sterling's strike against Newcastle has beaten Flying Eagles-eligible forward Tyrique George's goal against Blackburn in the U18 Premier League Cup to the Chelsea Goal of the Month for November.
Sterling scored a stunning free-kick in Chelsea's 4-1 loss to Newcastle at St James' Park last month on matchday 13 of the Premier League.
The 28-year-old's free-kick garnered the largest share of the vote with 64% per cent which is way more than Thiago Silva's goal against Manchester City which earned 16 per cent and Sam Kerr's strike against Paris FC which gathered 8 per cent.
The other nominees for the monthly award included Lauren James and Aggie Beever-Jones.
One of George's goals was also nominated for the October Goal of the Month but lost out to Mykhailo Mudryk's strike against Arsenal in the said month.
The 17-year-old has been in stellar form for Chelsea's youth teams this season, notching 9 goals across all competitions.
The form of the Anglo-Nigeria forward particularly in the U18 Premier League has caught the eye as he has registered 4 goals and two assists in five games in the competition, only failing to score on two matchdays so far.
His performances have not gone unnoticed as he was asked to train with the first team during the last international break.
