One time Super Eagles midfielder, Ifeanyi Ekwueme survived an auto crash on Sunday evening when a stray cow ran into his car on his way home from Lagos to Enugu, after the Nigerian National League match between his team Apex and Ottasolo FC.
While speaking on the accident, Ekwueme disclosed that he was glad he did not sustain a non-life threatening injuries even as his Toyota Camry car was not badly damaged as he came out unscathed.
The former Heartland FC of Owerri sporting director now Apex FC chairman further narrated that the accident which occurred around 7.27pm triggered traffic along the Onitsha/Enugu expressway, forcing motorists and commuters traveling along the axis to halt their journey for almost an hour.
"It was a terrible scene my brother," Ekwueme began.
He continued: "I am grateful to God for miraculously surviving such an accident with my team doctor (Dr. Emeka Nwosu) and my driver. All I can say is thank you Jehovah, thank you Jesus and to God be the glory.
"We were returning from Lagos after a stop over at Ogwashi-Ukwu, so when we got to a place called Umunya in Anambra state, a very big cow ran into my car from nowhere.
"My driver didn't even know where the cow came from and how it ran into the expressway but God proved that He is God."
It would be recalled that Ekwueme also escaped death in a miraculous circumstance in 2004, following an attack by arm robbers in Lafia while on his way to Super Eagles Abuja camp, ahead of a crucial 2006 World Cup qualifier match against the Desert Warriors of Algeria.
