Maduka Okoye has spoken about Udinese’s narrow defeat to Juventus, stating that his side had the chance to secure a positive result despite the 1–0 loss in Serie A.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper made the remarks after the match while speaking to Udinese’s official YouTube channel following the encounter, which saw Juventus secure all three points.
Udinese were unable to avoid defeat despite battling throughout the match, with Juventus scoring the only goal of the game to claim victory.
After the final whistle, Okoye reflected on the contest and acknowledged the strength of the opposition.
Speaking about the result and the opportunities his side had during the game, Okoye said Udinese had hoped to take something from the match but recognised the quality of their opponents.
“Today we had the opportunity to get at least a point, but Juventus is a very strong team,” Okoye said while discussing the outcome of the match.
The 26-year-old also addressed the team’s immediate focus following the defeat, stressing the importance of moving forward and concentrating on the next fixture in the league campaign.
“Now we have to focus on the next match,” he added as Udinese look to respond after the setback.
Okoye also spoke about his individual display during the encounter. While expressing satisfaction with how he performed, the goalkeeper emphasised that the team result remains the most important factor.
“I’m happy with my performance, but in the end, what matters is that the team gets points,” Okoye said.
