AFCON Winner Efan Ekoku Is Most Expensive Player Ever Sold By Sutton United
Former Nigeria international Efan Ekoku remains the most expensive player ever sold by non-league team Sutton United. <br /><br />Bournemouth, who were managed by Harry Redknapp at that time, paid 100,000 pounds to secure his signature from Sutton United back in 1990.<br /><br />Ekoku enjoyed success on the pitch at Bournemouth and later transferred to Norwich City, Wimbledon, Grasshopper, Sheffield Wednesday and Brentford.<br /><br />Undoubtedly, the highlight of his career was winning the African Cup of Nations title with the Super Eagles in Tunisia 1994, and he was also a member of the squad at the World Cup that same year.<br /><br />Other players of Nigerian descent who have represented Sutton United include Moses Odubajo,Tom Bolarinwa, Chukki Eribenne, Solomon Taiwo and Andy Salako.<br /><br />The Yellows caused a sensation when they qualified for the fifth round of the FA Cup but crashed out of the competition on Monday night after losing 2-0 to Arsenal. <br /><br />Ifeanyi Emmanuel <br /><br />Photo Credit : premierleagueheroes.com<br />
