Super Eagles hopeful Chuba Akpom ended his long wait for a first goal for Ipswich Town on Tuesday night, netting as the Tractor Boys secured a 2-0 victory over Semi Ajayi's Hull City in a Championship clash at MKM Stadium.
Ipswich pulled off a notable summer transfer coup by luring Akpom to Portman Road, beating off competition from the likes of Middlesbrough and Birmingham City to his signature.
However, the Ajax Amsterdam loanee had found the going tough since his arrival, struggling to secure a regular starting spot.
After failing to score in his first twelve Championship appearances, Akpom came off the bench to open his account for the Tractor Boys in the win over the Tigers.
The 30-year-old doubled Ipswich's advantage in the 73rd minute, finishing from close range just four minutes after Marcelino Núñez had given the visitors the lead with a superb header.
Akpom had spent a total of 515 minutes across thirteen games before finally finding the net.
Prior to the trip to Hull, his only contribution had been an assist in a 1-1 draw with Bristol City at the end of September.
A seasoned campaigner in the EFL Championship, Akpom has amassed 142 appearances in the division, directly participating in 43 goals over the course of his career.
