German Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim have officially informed that two of their players have been diagnosed with coronavirus while a third is in quarantine due to a family member contracting the virus, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Hoffenheim have not revealed the identities of the infected players but added that the players had been on trips for international matches with their respective national teams in the past two weeks.
They tested positive for coronavirus following the return to Germany.
Former Germany U20 skipper Kevin Akpoguma was among the Hoffenheim players away on international duty this month.
The central defender and wing-back made his senior debut in a 1-0 loss against African champions Algeria on October 9 before he was handed his full debut in a 1-1 draw with Tunisia three days ago.
Akpoguma has gone the distance in every single game played by Hoffenheim in the new season, four in total comprising three in the Bundesliga and the other in the DFB Pokal, , therefore alarm bells would be ringing if he is not in the matchday squad vs Borussia Dortmund on Saturday afternoon.
