Two Nigerian players were recognized at the 2016 Malta Football Players Association (MFPA) awards ceremony held at Xara Lodge, Rabat on Monday. <br /><br />Malta international and <span class=\"\\&quot;st\\&quot;\">Balzan striker Alfred Effiong was named in the Team of the Season for the Premier League and led the frontline alongside Jhonnattann (Valletta) and </span>Matteo Piciollo (Floriana).<br /><br />The 28-year-old attacker Augustine James Obaje, who turns out for Senglea Athletic, won the MFPA Best First Division Player Award.<br /><br />The gala ceremony was attended by former Belgian player Jean-Marc Bosman, and he called on the Maltese Federation to scrap transfer fees for players out of contract.<br /><br />Ifeanyi Emmanuel<br /><br /><br />
