Eric Chelle's scouting mission: The three Ikorodu City players who caught Super Eagles coach's attention

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that three Ikorodu City players caught the eye of Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle during Tuesday's Nigeria Premier Football League encounter against Wikki Tourists.

The Malian tactician was present at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena as part of his ongoing scouting mission, assessing standout performers in the NPFL ahead of his squad announcement for the 2026 Unity Cup.

Chelle has already indicated his intention to include in-form NPFL players in his squad for the tournament at The Valley, where the Super Eagles will face Zimbabwe and either Jamaica or India in their second match.

During the game, which Ikorodu City won 3–1, goalkeeper Michael Atata, versatile midfielder Tosin Oyedokun, and forward Joseph Arumala all delivered notable performances that left a strong impression on Chelle.

Their displays have now placed them in contention for selection for the Unity Cup squad.

Statistically, Atata has been one of the standout goalkeepers in the Nigerian top flight this season, recording an impressive 16 clean sheets in 31 appearances, although he was beaten once by the Bauchi-based side.

Oyedokun showcased his versatility in midfield, operating both centrally and in advanced areas, and contributed an assist for Ikorodu City’s second goal.

Arumala, the NPFL's leading scorer, took his season tally to 13 goals after converting a 37th-minute penalty.
