Former Turkish referee Bünyamin Gezer has praised Paul Onuachu for his outstanding goalscoring form, suggesting the Trabzonspor striker deserves to be regarded among the most valuable players in the Süper Lig.
Following his brace in a 3-1 win over Kayserispor on Monday, Onuachu extended his scoring streak to nine games in all competitions.
Standing at 2.01 metres, the towering forward tops the league’s scoring charts with 20 goals, eight of which have come from headers, a testament to his aerial dominance and physical presence in the box.
With his opener against Kayserispor, the FC Ebedei product became the first player in fourteen years to score in seven consecutive league matches for Trabzonspor, equaling Burak Yılmaz's record.
Impressed by the Nigeria international's reliability in front of goal, Gezer offered a humorous yet emphatic assessment of the striker's remarkable form.
"All you have to do is text 'goal' to 6161 and a goal will come," he was quoted as saying by takagazete.com.
"In football, you need to have a good striker and a good goalkeeper. Onuachu is that kind of player. In football, you need good strikers and good goalkeepers. Trabzonspor has them."
