Anglo-Nigerian winger Nathan Tella will not be involved on Friday night when Southampton take on Norwich City at St Mary's Stadium.
The 22-year-old is recovering from a groin injury he suffered in a Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers on January 15.
Tella has missed the last five matches played by the Saints due to the ailment, against Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Everton and Coventry City.
Ralph Hasenhüttl confirmed at the pre-match press conference that the former Arsenal schoolboy is one of three first teamers sidelined by injury before the visit of the Canaries.
Providing a squad update, Hasenhüttl said : "So far we’re looking good. Romain is back after his Covid case.
"So we only have Lyanco, Nathan Tella and Alex McCarthy still out but the rest are training with the group.
"I have a big squad that I can select the best possible 11 from".
Of the ten appearances made by Tella in this season's Premier League, seven were
starts and he was named in the starting lineup in four
matches in Cup competitions.
