With a lot of pressure on the Rangers team before their meeting with Brondby in the Europa League, Joe Aribo rose to the occasion with a brilliant performance, helping the Scottish Premiership champions to a convincing 2-0 win on Thursday night.
Though Leon Balogun and Kemar Roofe got on the scoresheet, it was Aribo's display that caught the eye, so much so that he was singled out for praise by manager Steven Gerrard after the clash at Ibrox Stadium.
Following a decision by the on-field official and VAR check, Rangers were denied a blatant penalty around the hour mark after the number 17 was felled in the box by Brondby defender Sigurd Rosted.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference before Sunday's trip to St. Mirren, Aribo admitted that everything went the way they expected and the performance against the Scandinavians was one of their best this season.
"Yes it felt very good. We knew how important the result was, we needed it to kick-start our European campaign so we just knew how important it was," Aribo told Rangers TV.
"It was a really nice feeling being out there. It's up there with one of the best performances this season so hopefully we can just keep that going and push on from now on."
Aribo and his teammates have a few days to recover before taking to the SMISA Stadium (Paisley) pitch against St. Mirren in the Premiership.
The Nigeria international has stressed the importance of getting back to winning ways in the league after they were forced to a 1-1 draw in their last outing against Hearts.
Aribo said : "It's so important, we know we can't afford to drop points .
"We want to win every single game so when we drop points it's a bit frustrating and just a bit dampening so we just need to make that right in the next fixture."
After nine matches in the division, Rangers are topping the table with 20 points, one more than second-placed Hearts and four ahead of bitter rivals Celtic, who occupy fourth spot.
