Arokodare fined by Wolves after dressing room altercation with teammate of African descent

Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Tolu Arokodare has been fined by the club following a reported dressing room altercation with teammate of African descent Mateus Mane after their defeat to West Ham United.

The incident is said to have taken place in the aftermath of Wolves’ 4-0 loss at the London Stadium, a result that intensified pressure on the squad amid a difficult run of form.

According to English journalist Nathan Judah, tensions inside the dressing room escalated quickly between the two players, both of whom have African roots, with Arokodare representing Nigeria at international level and Mane having Guinean-Bissau heritage.

Judah reported that what began as a verbal exchange between the pair developed into a more serious confrontation, which became physically involved.

He stated that Arokodare was identified as the sole aggressor during the incident.

The club is understood to have conducted an internal review before deciding to sanction the player financially.

Following the disciplinary action, Arokodare was left out of the starting squad and remained an unused substitute in Wolves’ next fixture, a 3-0 defeat away at Leeds United.

His absence from the pitch has further fuelled speculation over his current standing within the team and his role under the club’s coaching staff.

The Super Eagles forward joined Wolves from Belgian side Genk after a strong spell in the Belgian Pro League, where he earned a reputation as a powerful and physically dominant striker.

His performances in Belgium attracted interest from several European clubs before he secured a move to the Premier League.

However, his adaptation to English football has been less smooth, with limited goal contributions and inconsistent game time in a struggling Wolves side.
