Porto loanee Chidozie Awaziem believes the Super Eagles are the team to beat at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations because of the crop of young players in their ranks such as Villarreal's Samuel Chukwueze, Galatasaray's Henry Onyekuru and himself.
The Rizespor central defender was called up to the Super Eagles squad last month for their two games against Seychelles and Egypt but was asked to play for the Dream Team at the last minute following their 2-0 loss to Libya in the first leg of the U23 AFCON qualifiers.
''I think we are going to have a good Africa Cup of Nations with these kind of players (Chukwueze, Onyekuru and myself) because if you check at their clubs they are doing very good and they are playing in the best leagues in the world and playing regularly,'' said Awaziem to SuperSport Naija Made.
''I think we have a good team, a strong team to have a good AFCON. My dream is to lift the trophy again. I really want to win the AFCON.''
When asked if he would like to return to Porto or remain in Turkey with Rizespor, Awaziem answered : ''I am just here for six months and I don't know what will happen in the next few months.
''It depends on Porto, if they want me back they are going to call me. If Rizespor are interested, they can speak to Porto and make an agreement.''
Awaziem has started and gone the distance in the last seven matches played by Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig.
