The ball is now in the court of Nigeria Football Federation as regards to capping highly-rated Huddersfield Town midfielder Philip Billing, with the Danish Football Association omitting the player from their provisional World Cup roster.
Denmark coach Age Hareide has not picked Billing in the provisional 35-man Denmark squad for this summer’s World Cup.
The 21-year-old central midfielder, who has Nigerian blood flowing in his veins, was born in Denmark and the Scandinavian country are ahead of the NFF in the race for his services as he caps for Denmark's U21 team, the last of which came against Austria U21s in an international friendly in March 2018.
Prior to his U21 debut against Faroe Islands in August 2017, he had played for Denmark's U19 national team against Norway.
Billing made 22 appearances in all competitions for Huddersfield Town in the just concluded season, scoring one goal against Rotherham United in the second round of the League Cup.
His teammates at Huddersfield goalkeeper Jonas Lossl and defender Mathias Jorgensen have been named to the roster.
