Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have reportedly added Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor to their transfer wishlist as they look to reinforce their backline following his impressive performances at the Gewiss Stadium.
The 17-year-old centre-back, who joined the Bergamo-based club from Genoa last summer, has caught the eye with his calmness, composure and ability to operate as a left-footed centre-back, a rare and highly valued profile on the transfer market.
According to Sky Sport Deutschland via Tutto Atalanta, Bayern are closely monitoring Ahanor's situation ahead of a potential move, as the Bavarians assess options to strengthen their defence.
However, Atalanta are unwilling to sanction a sale during the winter transfer window, viewing the defender as a key part of their project.
The Italian club regard Ahanor as an important member of the squad and would only consider a January transfer if the Bavarians submit an irresistible, sizeable offer to prise him away to the Allianz Arena.
Born in Italy, Ahanor is not the only defender on Bayern's radar. The German giants are also tracking Rennes centre-back Jérémy Jacquet, who is believed to be higher on their list.
However, strong interest in the Frenchman from several top European clubs has forced Bayern to consider Ahanor as a viable alternative.
Bayern are exploring alternative options to replace South Korean defender Kim Min-jae should he decide to depart in the summer transfer window.
Ahanor remains under contract with the Bergamo-based club until 2028, making any potential transfer a difficult proposition for the young defender, who is also eligible to represent the Super Eagles through his parents.
