Blackburn Rovers coach Michael O’Neill has praised Super Eagles right-back Ryan Alebiosu following his performance in the club’s 2-1 victory over Millwall at The Den on Saturday.
The Championship clash saw Blackburn come from behind to secure all three points, with Mathias Jørgensen scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to turn the game in Rovers’ favour.
Alebiosu played a crucial role, not only with his movement on the right flank but also by providing a key assist for one of the goals.
Speaking to RoversTV after the game, Michael O’Neill reflected on Blackburn Rovers’ performance and the players who stood out during the match.
He singled out the 24-year-old for his influence on the right flank, noting how his movement and contributions helped shape the team’s attacking play.
“I was pleased with the goals we scored and the movement on the side, particularly from Ryan [Alebiosu], who I thought was brilliant," O’Neill said.
Blackburn’s victory ended a four-game winless run and lifted the team to 19th in the Championship table, three points above the relegation zone.
The match had initially seen Millwall take the lead through an overhead kick from Luke Cundle in the 54th minute, before defender Zak Sturge was sent off in the 59th minute, reducing the home side to ten men.
Jørgensen seized the opportunity, first converting an equaliser in the 80th minute, expertly set up by Alebiosu’s precise assist, before striking the winning goal in the 85th.
Alebiosu’s intelligent positioning on the flank and timely contribution proved crucial in creating this decisive moment.
