Chelsea's record goalscorer with 211 goals, Frank Lampard has confirmed that he broke his hand as he was celebrating Iwobi's game-winning strike against Newcastle United on Thursday night.
In the 99th minute, the Nigeria international secured all three points for the home team when he skipped past a challenge and exchanged passes with Dominic
Calvert-Lewin before driving low into the bottom right corner.
After the game at Goodison Park, Toffees boss Lampard revealed that he's nursing a swollen hand.
Speaking to reporters in his post-match briefing, Lampard stated : "I don't know how I broke my hand! I think I just connected with
something. I didn't realise in the moment, but I'll take it for the
three points."
Iwobi was in the cold for three consecutive matches in all competitions before returning to the starting lineup for the visit of Newcastle United.
Lampard has lauded the Hale End Academy product for his work ethic especially in training and encouraged him to have confidence in his own abilities.
On match-winner Iwobi, Lampard said : "He trains so well. You see how hard he works. I'm delighted he's the man
that gets the goal to win it for us.
"He needs to believe in himself
more because we know the quality he has."
Iwobi's goal against Newcastle United took his tally to three goals this term, his best return in a single season for Everton.
