Chukwueze, Bassey and Iwobi share light-hearted banter over tournament experience with club teammates

Super Eagles stars Samuel Chukwueze, Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi shared light-hearted moments while discussing the experience of going to a major international tournament with club teammates.

Chukwueze, Iwobi and Bassey were key members of the Nigeria squad that finished third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, two years after winning silver in Ivory Coast.

Responding to a question about what it feels like attending a major tournament alongside his club teammates, Chukwueze said in a video shared on X that he finds the experience both enjoyable and reassuring, noting, “For me, I think it’s fun; it’s actually good to have them around

During the interview, as the three players sat together, Bassey jokingly attempted to shake Chukwueze while he was speaking.

Chukwueze responded playfully, saying, “Remove your hand, you will not let me to speak now before I speak something that will not align to the question she ask but it's okay.”

Chukwueze also made humorous remarks about his teammates, saying, “Though I don't like this one (Bassey) but I the other one (Iwobi). This one (Bassey) stress me he was the one that gave me sickness but it's okay there is love in sharing but it's okay.”

The playful exchange continued as Bassey reacted with laughter, saying, “As you can see, I'm dying of laughter.” Chukwueze quickly replied, “Yeah, you will die of laughter.”

The three players are currently teammates at Fulham in the English Premier League and remain key members of the club’s squad.

Their interaction reflected the strong bond between them both at club level and on international duty with the Super Eagles.
